January 11, 2018

Our school is open on Saturday, just as it has been in the past on this January weekend. We will be commemorating the events of January 13th, when in 1991 Lithuanians filled the streets with song, prayer , and demands for independence from the USSR. Join Lithuanians worldwide in lighting a candle to remember those who died , as well as all who fought for freedom.

Students are asked to participate in an art contest LIETUVA MANO ŠIRDYJE / LITHUANIA IS IN MY HEART. They are welcome to interpret these words artistically using any medium they wish (pencil, crayons, watercolors, chalk, etc.). Return the finished artwork to the classroom teacher this Saturday. Students’ work will be displayed during the Vasario-16 program.

Join us for a student/parent simposium about VALUES IN MY LIFE and a lecture about the Lithuanian language by visiting professor Joana Pribušauskaitė from Vilnius U. on Saturday, Jan. 20th after the flag-raising ceremonies. Please support the efforts of teachers and administration.
